My thinking in the change to an upbeat tempo: It's for celebrating the fact that we have been forgiven...traded up, so to speak. Liturgical churches allow time at the beginning of worship for silent confession with a minister who then declares our sin absolved b/c of the work of the cross. Charasmatic churches don't really have that process, but usually launch into praise right at the start. So this song is trying to accomplish both: position the believer to "come clean" because of the blood of Jesus at the beginning of the worship service while entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. I like the chorus - very good lyrics and ideas / images. Although I ask the question - 'does the up-beat rhythm fit a repentance song?' - maybe it does.
